U.S. Ministry Providing Food, Bibles to Displaced Nigerian Refugees

Nigeria (Mission Network News) The Nigerian government says the U.N. is making a mountain out of a molehill when they describe the severity of the hunger crisis in northeast Nigeria. Last Friday, the U.N. launched a $1 billion funding appeal for the food shortage in three Nigerian states. Just over five million Nigerians face food insecurity and 400,000 children are at risk of starvation.

Greg Kelley with World Mission was just at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Adamawa State in northern Nigeria. There, he witnessed the need firsthand.

There are 1,600 people [in the camp], half of them children who have lost everything. Many of the children are orphaned. [There are] very few men. Were being told that Boko Haram has killed most of the men represented in this camp, so just the basic necessities of survival are needed food, clothing, detergent.
