Jaromir Jagr Missed Penguins’ Stanley Cup Reunion Because He’s Still Playing

The Pittsburgh Penguins held a reunion Saturday night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1991-92 Stanley Cup championship team.

While nearly everyone from that entertainment news in ghana squad was in attendance,Jaromir Jagr was notbecause he is still an active player in the NHL…25 years later.

Jagr, the fifth overall pick in the 1990 draft, made his debut with the Penguins when he was 18 years old. In his first two seasons in the league, the young star helped lead his team to back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. That was just the beginning of his storied career, one that is still going to this day.

The Czech star has bounced around the league a bit through the years and even took a break from the NHL to play in his home country and the KHL. But after a few years away from the United States, Jagr came back and picked up right where he left off. Amazingly, he is still going strong at 44 years old.

As much as Jagr may have wanted to be a part of the celebration, he could not attend:

Just think about that. Twenty-five years after winning a Stanley Cup, he was not able to make it to the reunion because he is still playing. Considering how physical hockey is, that type of longevity is incredibly rare.

The legend of Jagr continues to grow.
