EXCLUSIVE | Tyron Woodley: Going to ‘put my nose down and move in silence’ and ‘completely annihilate’ all competition
Initially after winning the title over Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 in July, Woodley called for a money fight against Nick Diaz to which many criticized the new champion for the move with just winning the belt.
BJPenn.coms Chris Taylor was lucky enough to connect with Woodley while taking a break from training for his big title fight. Taylor asked Woodley on a recent segment of BJPenn.coms Rapid Fire if he thinks fans would be more accepting of him asking for a Georges St-Pierre fight if he defeats Thompson at UFC 205. In addition, Taylor asked Woodley if he plans on calling out the former champ with a win on November 12.
Im not even going to play that game, Woodley said. People already know who I am. I dont have to go and prove who I am in this fight. I dont have to say ok I am the champ, now give me the fight I want. You know, I am already the champ so I am just going to go out there, put my nose down and move in silence. Anyone they put in front of me I am just going to completely annihilate. Thats all I am going to do and I am going to keep doing it until I feel like stopping it. That is my whole game plan. It doesnt matter if it is Demian Maia, Georges St-Pierre, Michael Bisping, or anybody in that division or around that division.
The Chosen One went on to remind everyone of his last bouts against the top ranked fighters in the welterweight division.
What people dont realize is I have been in four number one contendership fights. So dont expect me to boohoo and cry a river for Stephen Wonderboy Thompson because he just randomly and recently got into MMA and he went on a two-fight win streak against the former champion and former title contender and Im supposed to jump through the roof and give him a title shot. Like I fought Rory MacDonald for a number one contender spot. I fought Kelvin Gastelum for a number one contender spot. I was setup to fight Johny Hendricks for a number one contender fight. So I have been in these fights and in each case had my opponent beat me they were getting a title shot. Verbally expressed by the President. So why should I feel bad?
